Baseball Club at Illinois State University

About

Founded in 2006, Illinois State Club Baseball hosts a fall league open to all and fields a competitive spring team for NCBA competition.

The fall league serves two primary purposes: (1) to act as an extended tryout for the NCBA spring teams and (2) to provide a competitive baseball league that is open to any and all Illinois State students.

The league typically begins a few weeks after classes begin and runs until weather prohibits play. Players should expect to play around two games per week. Those interested can contact the email information embedded if interested or can look out for the Club Baseball table during Festival ISU or the Sports Club Expo on the quad each fall.

The spring team competes as members of NCBA's Great Lakes South Conference. The team and the league is competitive where winning is desired, but overall it is a wholesome and fun experience. We have recruited past JUCO, D3 and D2 players who have transferred from their respective schools to Illinois State, looking to gain that baseball atmosphere without the pressure of playing baseball for Athletics.

Once selected, the team practices two nights a week prior to winter break and then resumes again once spring semester begins.

The season opens with a week-long trip to Florida each year during spring break to compete in NCBA's Spring Training Showcase. Shortly after, conference season begins and usually includes a couple of weekend road trips each year.

Now in its 11th year at Illinois State, Club Baseball has established itself as a fiscally responsible and prominent member of the club athletics scene at Illinois State.
